Mr. Obama poked fun at himself at the Gridiron Club in March 2006 with, left, his 2008 presidential campaign chief strategist, David Axelrod, and right, his communications director Robert Gibbs.
Back then (March 2006), the columnist Lynn Sweet wrote: "Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and vice presidential spouse Lynne Cheney speak at the annual Gridiron Club dinner on Saturday night. It's Obama for the Democrats and Cheney for the GOP. President Bush closes the evening.
They will be under pressure to be very, very funny. It's a white tie night. That's tails for men and gowns for women."

Few days ago David Axelrod was appointed as Senior Adviser to the President in the Obama Administration and few hours ago, Robert Gibbs was officially named Press Secretary.
