Attorneys & Law Students wanted!

Today the Obama campaign has filed Suit against the Michigan GOP

You have probably heard about the GOP tricks to try and prevent people from voting. Attorneys and Law students will be needed to ensure that voters rights are respected.

This year, we expect hundreds of thousands of first-time voters. First time voters have unique needs and they are the voters most at risk of disenfranchisement. We need your help and skills to make sure every eligible voter gets a chance to vote. We are starting early to establish a statewide Voter Protection effort and we hope you will join us. Your legal expertise makes you indispensable to the voter protection initiative.

Here is how you can get involved:

1. Monitor Polls on Election Day! Join the team of legal volunteers in your home state or travel to a battleground state. The Voter Protection Team will place volunteer attorneys and law students at polling sites in critical locations on Election Day (Tuesday, November 4, 2008).

2. Monitor Polls during Early Vote! Wherever you will be on Election Day, please consider committing to work at least two days as a poll monitor during early vote. Travel to Nevada during October 18-31, 2008, Iowa during September 25 - November 3, 2008 or Florida during October 2 - November 2, 2008, when these states have a robust early voting period, or contact the campaign in your home state to find out the schedule for any Early Vote volunteer opportunities there. Poll monitors are especially needed on week days.

In all cases, you will be fully trained ahead of time and supported by a hotline of experienced election lawyers in-state.
