Barack Obama attracted 100,000 people at a Saturday rally here, his biggest crowd ever at a U.S. event.
The crowd assembled under the Gateway Arch on a sunny Saturday afternoon to hear Obama speak about taxes and slam the Republicans on economic issues.
Lt. Samuel Dotson of the St. Louis Police Department confirmed the number of attendees. To view more amazing photos, click on the pictures. Photos courtesy of DailyKosUpdate:
I'm finding that in this election season, the democrats are actually being just more concerned, compassionate, and kind in general. No yelling 'kill him' at rallys, they just boo. But even then, Obama stops them and encourages them to vote. At the rally here in St. Louis, there were 100,000 folks, but it was so peaceful and everyone was just kind and together and happy! However, our republican governor, who decided not to run for re-election, said on a radio station that the crowd size we gave Obama in St. Louis and Kansas City do not matter because crowd size does not guarantee votes. Our own governor making light of the hope and inspiration we felt at the rallies, just because the crowd size was for Obama and not McCain. When McCain came the very next Monday, only 2500 came to see him. That's why Missouri is blue now and will vote blue on the 4th!!! - Erica R. W.
